Poem of the Past

You say you love me
But what are these words
without actions behind them?
They are like leaves without a tree
to nourish them and give them life,
they blow away in the slightest wind.

You say you love me,
But its just mouth chatter, how can this be
when you leave me so long hanging?
You are like the sky that has no blue,
no promise that is true.

You say you love me,
But how can I believe when the words you utter
Are so empty and hollow?
You are like the sound of the ocean in the desert,
a mirage no more no less,
no real existence.

You say you love me,
But you would be better to hang me by my toes
over the deepest darkest well.
You are like the sunshine which fades behind the clouds
on a cold cold day, a promise un-kept, a tease,
for which many have wept.

You say you love me,
yes you say that now but when the real grit comes
of pushing ourselves to the mountain's peak,
whither shall I seek to find you?
Will you be behind me as you claim you will?
Is it that your words of love will hold up still?

You say you love me,
But its all mouth chatter, for your words are
empty and hollow and hold no water.
You say you love me now, forever and forever but tomorrow
will grace us with the the truth no less.
It will all end in tears, through the years and years,
but they will not be mine to gather.
I don't believe in your ever after.

Note:Anyone can come into your life and say how much they love you, but it takes someone really special to stay in your life and prove how much they love you.  Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right person, but the right person is always worth the wait.
